Boston, MA (December 14, 2023) – The Connecticut Sun, Boston Celtics and TD Garden announced today that the Connecticut Sun will host a regular season game at the arena on August 20, 2024 (vs. TBD).

“We are excited to host the first WNBA game and welcome New England’s team, The Connecticut Sun, to play at TD Garden this summer,” said Glen Thornborough, TD Garden president and Boston Bruins COO. "We’ve had a record-breaking year of events in 2023 and we are thrilled to be adding more opportunities to celebrate women’s sports in Boston in 2024.” 

The Connecticut Sun, based in Uncasville, Connecticut, has never played a regular season game at TD Garden. The organization reached out to Boston Celtics and TD Garden officials with the hope of reaching a new fan base, creating more of a bond with the NBA, Greater Boston, and New England as a whole.

Our vision is to provide access and exposure to the Connecticut Sun brand to thousands of sports fans, children, and their families, and for young girls to see first-hand that they can play at Boston’s hallowed TD Garden someday. This all would not be possible without the support of our partners at TD Garden and the Boston Celtics family, sharing their world class fan experience playbook with us. We are proud to be New England's WNBA team, and we can’t wait to shine in Boston."

The Connecticut Sun are one of the most successful WNBA franchises and play their home games at Mohegan Sun Arena. The team has reached the WNBA playoffs for the past seven seasons, including two WNBA Finals. Most recently, in 2023, the Connecticut Sun reached the WNBA semifinals.
